Resting under the shade of a large oak tree, Washington Anderson and his four colleagues were looking for a location for the seat of Williamson County. They were soon joined by Anderson’s cousin, George Washington Glasscock, the owner of the land on which they sat. Anderson asked him if he would donate the surrounding area for the county seat and he agreed! Georgetown was then founded and named in his honor. Since then, Georgetown has grown into a city of more than 65,000 residents. Nestled in the Texas Hill Country, its natural beauty, modern amenities, and proximity to Austin have made it a prime place to live and work!
